Minnie Breakfast for Lunch

2020 has canceled all of my plans. I spent months planning the prefect holiday for my granddaughter. It was going to be her first trip to Disney World. We wanted her to experience ALL that Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom has to offer. Part of my awesomeness as a grandparent was to bring a small luggage filled with items, I planned to surprise her with each day. One thing was a stuffed Minnie Mouse. Which would be presented while she ate breakfast. I could just imagine her little face lighting up. Well, like Pete the Cat did we cry goodness no , we just made a Minnie box instead!

This week bento box was inspire by onecraftything.com sandwich accompanied by blueberry and cherry lunch. This was such a cute idea. The cherries really pop out. I wanted to use this idea to create a breakfast for lunch. This bento included:

Two pancakes cut using a Minnie Mouse cookie cutter with blueberries as background. Turkey and cheese roll on a stick.Cherry flavor Greek yogurt decorate with candy flowers. Embellished with laminated Minnie Mouse clipart.

Mermaid Lunch

Online schooling has presented challenges that our family had to make adjustment to accommodate the needs of our kids.  Sometime kids can be overlooked when it comes to how Covid and quarantine has place stress on them. I like to infuse each day with special moments. This is the beauty of making bento lunch. They give parent a chance to make their child smile. I like to incorporate the kids interest in my lunches. In my lunches I like to include cliparts for two reasons. The first reason is it would be time consuming to try and create these details with food. The second is I look at this like creating art using to mediums. Adding clip art details add a host of possibility when making creative lunches. This lunch was totally dedicated to my granddaughter. She is all about unicorns, princess and mermaids. She loves ramen noodles, so while noodles cooked I added a drop of blue food coloring to the water. It created a much darker color than I originally expected. The noodles gave the p...

Hello Kitty Lunch

Over the weekend my granddaughter was so hurt that her aunt bought a Hello Kitty pencil for herself and unicorn pencil for her. She pouted, “ but I Love Hello Kitty too.” We had to talk to her about what it means to have gratitude. These are hard, but needed lessons.   Gratitude, thankfulness, or gratefulness, from the Latin word gratus ‘pleasing, thankful’, is a feeling of appreciation felt by and/or similar positive response shown by the recipient of kindness, gifts, help, favors, or other types of generosity, towards the giver of such gifts. I love my grandchildren and want to give them everything, but without nurturing gratitude they will end up spoiled and ungrateful. As a parent (and grandparent) teaching our children to be have gratitude is actually molding them into kind human beings.  I ncluded in lunch: 🥪 kitten - raspberry jam sandwich 🥮 heart shape pound cake 🥣 strawberry yogurt 🥒 cut cucumbers 🧆 Snack: yogurt cover raisins  S trawberries Direct...

My Little Pony Lunch

I learned a long time ago that the best way to serve lunch to my picky child is to make it into something fun. She is all about My Little Pony this year. I wanted to style the food to look adorable with flowers, shapes, and even vibrant colors. While I admit that I’m a sucker for these sweetly styled meals, I don’t have nearly the amount of time or patience it takes to create such detailed works of food art. However, I have mastered the art of creating deceptively simple bento lunches that look like they took a long time to create. To do this, I tend to use laminated cliparts. By doing this you’re able to add the little details without sacrificing time. I know this might feel like cheating, and I should have taken the time to make the eyes out of bread or nori. However, with only ten minutes to spare this works for me.   My grandkids love that I made them something special (that they can show off to their friends at lunchtime!), and I love that they’re guaranteed to eat their h...
